There are very few people left on this nation without a computer. Or at least that’s how it appears here in Northern Virginia. Most people I know have a couple personal computers in their home, then one at the office as well. In my house, we each have a laptop computer. And if there’s one thing I’ve found out since I’ve purchased mine, it’s that replacement laptop parts aren’t so cheap. I guess this really shouldn’t be a surprise. Like all advanced and compact forms of technology, laptops are intricate and expensive to fix. I found this out last fall when mine shut down and wouldn’t turn back on. I had no clue whatsoever what went wrong. The computer wasn’t dropped, hit or spilled on. So how in the world can this happen?

Computers are touchy machines. This goes double for laptops and notebooks. They apparently have more issues since they’re always toted around. So if you own one, you just may have to purchase a few replacement laptop parts down the road. Now, back to my computer’s issue. I ended up sending it away to an Apple service center. The system board, or I think that’s what they called it, crashed or melted down. They charged me a flat fee to repair it, which was 300 dollars. Once I received it back, everything was okay. I haven’t had any problems with it since them. But, I wanted to know if this was common. So I asked my brother who is a computer technician at a University. He said it’s common with laptops, because they get jarred so often and moved about. He always buys his laptop parts at auction on eBay.

GREAT! This got me to thinking. I don’t want to purchase anymore replacement laptop parts or have my computer sent away. Instead, I’m going to invest in a better one next time. Not necessarily a pricier one, but a more hardcore one. I watched a special on tough laptops a few weeks back. These babies would be well worth the money. They come with a tough exterior to protect the insides; they have a hard-drive that’s cushioned-in in case the computer is dropped; and some are water resistant also. That’s awesome! The military use these nifty computers all the time.

So, if you’re looking to buy some laptop parts, I hope they’re the add-on features and not the replacement stuff. If you do have to find a few laptop parts, I suggest online auctions such as eBay where you can get them cheap.
